Subject: George William APPLEBY and family of Spittlegate, Grantham, Lincolnshire, England

My great-great-aunt Theresa Jane FOGG (born 1852 in Leicester, England) married George William APPLEBY (born about 1851 in Whitby, Yorkshire, England) on 10th September 1978 in St George, Leicester. They then appear in the 1881 census at 11 Wharf Road, Spittlegate, Grantham in Lincolnshire, living above the Singer Sewing Machine shop, where George is the Agent, and they have two young children, Gertrude M APPLEBY (born about 1880 in Grantham) and Montague W APPLEBY (born 1881 in Grantham). By 1901 they are to be found in Spittlegate with Gertrude, who is now 21 and an Elementary School Teacher, as well as sons Herbert Cecil (b 1883) and Ernest George (b 1892). George is now a Public Accountant, whilst son Montague, aged 21, is a Drapers Assistant in Leicester.

If there are any Lincolnshire APPLEBY researchers from this line out there I would love to hear from them. I have a great deal of information pertaining to the FOGG family with which they are connected!

Best wishes,

Judy Evans
