Hello Ken, Got some info on your Applebys because they are mine also.On the 91 census they have 5 children, Charles 18, John 15, Maryann 13, Ambrose 4 and William it's not
clear could be 2.There is no mention of a Dorothy.Ambrose
and William born in Easington Lane, the others in Hetton le Hole.Father John born in Newbottle.
Your William is my Grandmother's cousin.
Charles and Ann Appleby had 6 children;Robinson, John(who
was William's father) Elizabeth (who was my grand mother's
mother)Jane A, Charles and William.
I don't how much you know of
our ancestors but they were hawkers by trade !!
Charles the elder was a hawker, Your William's father was listed as a peddlar, William's 2 brothers Charles and John were also hawkers (I wonder what the difference is !!!)
If there is anything else I can do you'll let me know??
I can't believe I've found a connection,By the way have you heard of Appleby Fair ?? It's a yearly event full of
travelling folk and horses etc. My Father was always
intending to take me but we never got!! This year my sister
and I will try to make it (for my father's sake, he died in
1988,so it's high time what do you think???)
I think that's it for now ,let me know if it's useful.
regards Joyce
