I have been going through the list of Appleby's and it is amazing that none of the family from South Africa have replied. I am currently researching my fathers family, his name is Brian James Appleby and my grandfather was Frederick James Appleby. My grandfather was one of 7 children, unfortunately he was not a great one for imparting family news. However I do know that he was the eldest and his father (my great grandfater) was also Frederick James Appleby. As i understood from his wife my gran - Majorie Ethel (Bowers) Appleby most of his sisters and brothers moved to the USA just before the 2nd world war. The family name Frederick James seems too co-incidental. Should i unearth any further information I will forward to you
