Have only recently started researching my family line and have linked to a Thomas Appleby. Haven't got a date of birth yet but his daughter, Mary born 1757 near Hull, married Robert King, born 1739, on December 8, 1789, in Hull. From other sources, I have found a Thomas Appleby born 1718 in Patrington, which is just East of Hull, adjacent to Mary's birthplace. There is also a William Appleby listed in the 1841 census as a farm labourer living in Patrington. The Appleby name round the Hull area is not very common but they are prevalent in other parts of Yorkshire. My GG Uncle was name Thomas Appleby King and he had a Grandson named after him, also Thomas Appleby King, who moved to Canada with his father and rest of the family in 1910. Don't know if this will help or confuse!
