In reply to: David Appleby 's message, "Re: APPLEBY - Sheffield Flood (1864)" on 11:08:12 06/10/03 Tue

Since posting my original message on this board I have had terrible PC problems and I was offline for some time. When I got back on I had lost all my favourites so I set about finding and reinstating them. I had hundreds all connected to the research I am doing. Anyway, it seems I forgot the Appleby board and now I have just stumbled back across the board. I am horrified to see you replied to my message three years ago so you must think me terrible for not having replied. For that I am truly sorry.

Anyway, moving on :-)

I am delighted to see you are descended from the ‘flood’ Appleby line and would very much like to make contact as being in touch with descendants is the real "icing on the cake" for me. I am also extremely interested to hear about the newspaper clipping about Cowton’s commendation, something I have not come across before.

I have a certain amount of information about this family although some of the details have been sent to me by other people and I haven’t been able to confirm the details at source. I would love to know where you fit in and I am also emailing you direct along with a copy of the family tree I have drawn so far. I would reiterate though that some of the names and dates on the tree have not been verified at source.

Hope to hear from you

Best Regards
